Mouse reference
The mouse handles three jobs in DB-WEAVE: selecting, clicking individual cells, and drawing. The keyboard equivalents are described in Keyboard reference.
Selecting
To edit part of a pattern with the Edit menu commands, you first need a selection.
Position the mouse over a corner of the part you want to select and press the left mouse button. Holding the button down, move to the opposite corner — a white rectangle follows the mouse. Release the button when the rectangle covers the part you want.
To remove a selection, click anywhere inside the pattern.
Clicking
A left click sets or clears a binding point. In a colour bar, a left click assigns the active colour to that thread.
A right click opens a context menu with the most relevant commands for the current location.
Ctrl + left click is the most useful variant:
- In a colour bar — picks the colour at the click location as the active colour. Convenient for swapping between colours that are already somewhere in the pattern.
- Anywhere else — moves the cursor to that location without setting a binding point.
Drawing
When the Tool palette (View → Tool palette, F10) is active, you draw lines, rectangles and ellipses by dragging the mouse just like making a selection.
Holding Ctrl while drawing constrains a rectangle to a square or an ellipse to a circle. For lines, Ctrl restricts the angle to horizontal, vertical or diagonal.
